It’s the red-light district of Tokyo.
It’s full of host and hostess clubs, love hotels, bars, restaurants and night clubs. It’s sometimes called ‘Sleepless Town’ in Japanese.
Kabukicho used to be a swamp! (Maybe it still is…)
Then they built schools and it became a residential area. It was reduced to ashes during bombing in world war two. It’s now called Kabukicho because of a kabuki theatre that was planned to be built here in the 1940’s after the bombing.
It was never built but the name stuck.
And watch out for the guys trying to hustle you into restaurants and clubs.
