Japan Rail (JR) run 70% of the trains in Japan.

In the event of the train being late you can get an official form stating the train and incident no getting in trouble at work for being late!

It’s the extra, traveller-friendly signs that make it amazing…

Like those above telling you the carriage number and how long it takes to get to each station from your current location. And signs telling you which station you’re at, the direction of travel and the stations in both directions.


The service is well-maintained from big cities to rural villages.
