Japanese sweet potatoes are purple on the outside and yellow on the inside.
They come into season in Autumn and are a popular snack – called yaki-imo.
These are just plain ol’ baked sweet potatoes
In the olden days, the potatoes were baked on hot stones and sold in carts that frequented the neighbourhood.
Some convenience stores still have stands where the potatoes are baked and kept hot.
They are also featured a lot in desserts and snacks in Fall
And don’t forget the sweet, sticky daigaku-imo.
