Japan has a lot of festivals…
Fukuyama in Hiroshima prefecture holds an annual rose festival.
It’s held in the aptly named Rose Park and Midori-Machi (Green Town) Park.
You can see tons of varieties and colors of roses.
Approximately 500,000 roses are in bloom
Roses are a symbol of love (or, you’ve done something wrong and you want your partner to forgive you).
So… a couple gets married at the festival every year in a ‘Rose Wedding’ ceremony.
And you can learn how to do rose origami and even by rose flavoured food and drinks.
There’s a parade and some kids attractions too. No wonder the festival attracts 800,000 visitors per year.
Who knew roses could be so popular?
It’s held on the second weekend of May every year!
