#235 Labor Thanksgiving Day

Labor Thanksgiving Day is called 勤労感謝の日/Kinrō Kansha no Hi.

It’s an annual event on November 23rd

There are a few festivals but this national holiday focuses more on the environment, peace and human rights.

For most people it’s just a day off work to spend at home and chill out.

It’s historically derived from a type of harvest festival called Niiname-sai/新嘗祭 to celebrate the harvest of rice, barley, millet and so on.

Happy labor thanksgiving day!
