#335 Hina Matsuri

The Hina Matsuri is a celebration of girls all over Japan.


It is an annual festival on March 3rd.

It’s often called ‘doll festival’ or ‘girls festival’ in English.

They eat special rice puffs:


Scattered sushi:

And tri-coloured mochi or jellies:


It’s most iconic feature is the doll arrangement seen in houses, schools and shops.


There are songs and a story behind the festival which is represented by the different dolls and instruments.
