#374 Ryu Murakami

Another famous author with the last name Murakami.

Mr. Ryu Murakami

He has written many short stories, novels and even dabbled in script-writing and film.

His books are dark and often grotesque.

They aren’t for the faint-hearted but they were one of the sparks that started a new genre of Japanese fiction.

It’s hard to define this genre, it mixes horror and comedy with mystery and psychology.

His most famous novels are Almost Transparent Blue, In the Miso Soup, Audition and Coin Locker Babies.

They are are chilling and deal with taboo subjects to make uncomfortable but exhillerating reading.
