Now, I’m not condoning smoking here… but you can’t ignore how smoker friendly Japan is.
Smoking sections are available in almost all bars and restaurants.
(Which isn’t so great if you want to eat dinner without feeling like you’re in an ashtray)
Airports and office buildings have well ventilated smoking rooms.
Even the Shinkansen bullet train has a smoking room.
Smoking on the street is prohibited, so streets and parks are clean and you don’t have to breathe nasty second hand smoke outside.
In convenience stores the cigarettes are labelled by number and also display price, nicotine levels and other information.
Also, there are a variety of cigarettes and promotions.
Like flavoured cigarettes and packs with free coffee or lighters.
And let’s not forget those old anti-smoking manner ads!
