#478 Monster Hunter

Capcom are a big player in the computer game industry.

Their biggest titles – Street Fighter and Resident Evil – are symbols of Japanese gaming.

They even have a bar in Tokyo.

Monster Hunter is a fairly recent global phenomenon.

It’s hard to believe it’s only 11 years old – debuting in 2004.

It’s a typical role-playing adventure game.

You can customize your character, hunt and battle monsters to collect parts for building weapons and armor.

It is one of the most popular games in Japan, but it’s has a much smaller following overseas.

It has beautiful artwork, music and game play.

It spawned the adorable cat character – Airou in Japanese.
(Actually, it’s spelled アイルー so it sounds more like Airuu).

Titles have been released on so many platforms.

Playstation, Xbox 360, Wii, PSP and Nintendo 3DS and even smartphones.

The PSP version is more like a massive-multiplayer online style RPG.

And they have iOS and Android game planned for release this year (Monster Hunter Explore), as well as a new 3DS release (Monster Hunter Stories) next year.
