#494 Illuminations

`Tis the season to be illuminated.

As soon as Halloween is over, Japan decks out the lights for nationwide night illuminations.

One of the most spectacular is in Kobe – the Luminaire.

All big cities cover trees and walkways with lights.

Tokyo has a kind of fairy-light arms race from November through to the following year.

The big ones can be found in Shibuya, Shinjuku, Roppongi… and almost every station has their own display.

They are a romantic date idea.

But also every other couple in Japan had the same idea… so expect crowds!

Check out Japan guide for a list of Tokyo’s illuminations this year.
