#501 Matsutake

Matsutake is a kind of mushroom.

It is a fall season mushroom and is highly sought after.

松・まつ・matsu means pine and 茸・たけ・take is another word for mushroom.

They hide under the mulch on the forest floor and live off of the tree roots.

So of course, they’re super expensive.

It is found in Asia, Europe and North America.

The most common dish it is used in is a kind of rice.
