#502 Ginkgo Trees

The Ginkgo Tree is an iconic tree for the fall season kouyou/autumn leaves viewing.


They turn from a dark green into this beautiful, startling yellow color.

It is sometimes called the Maidenhair tree in English, but in Japanese it’s いちょう・ichou.


Do you recognise Tokyo’s symbol?

The Tokyo metropolitan symbol represents the T for Tokyo and also the ginkgo leaf.
