#521 Denki Bran

Japan’s alcoholic drinks are famous – sake, shochu, umeshu.

The lesser known but drink with a cult-like following is Denki Bran.

It was made in 1882 by Denbee Kamiya.

His bar is one of the first western style bars in Japan.

 “Denki” means electricity and “Bran” is short for brandy.

The drink is very strong 30-40% alcohol.

Although it is a kind of brandy it is made with a secret formula which gives it a unique taste.

It also has a low, low price tag – give it a try! (if you don’t have work the next day).
