#523 20th Anniversary Pokemon

1996 marked the year Pokemon was launched in Japan.

The pixelated Gameboy game sparked the success that led to Pikachu being an internationally known symbol, hundreds of TV show episodes, dozens of movies and spin-off games.

Even, pokemon planes and of course dedicated pokemon shops called Pokemon Centers.

Japan re-launched Pokemon Red, Blue, Green and Pikachu (Europe/US got Red, Blue and Yellow).

It is an e-Shop download for Nintendo’s handheld console – the 3DS.

They also released special editions with a download code, fridge magnet, map and stickers.

Also, there are special edition 2DS’s.

Pokemon GO is an augmented reality game also scheduled for this year – on iOS and Android it is going to be a totally different approach for the franchise.
