#536 Takoyaki Parties

Sitting around a hot plate with your friends and family cooking is a popular past time in Japan.

You already know about nabe – the winter dish.

Another popular one is Takoyaki, the octopus filled dough balls.

Simply served, they are a ball of batter filled with a small piece of octopus, served with sauce, mayonnaise and bonito fish flakes on top.

However, you can put any ingredients you like – adding cheese, cabbage or ginger isn’t uncommon.


Some people take it a step further a use pancake batter to make sweet balls for desserts!
